MALAWI DROUGHT BECOMES CRITICAL … READ MORE

The projects outlined below are determined by our Field Administrators to be in need of immediate support, with the greatest potential to impact target communities. In line with MV’s requirements, regular progress and budget reports are provided, and projects are also monitored during visits by co-workers from the MV South Africa office, and others.

Dedza (pop: 700,000) is the main township of Dedza District, located about 85 km south of Malawi's capital, Lilongwe.

92% of its population is illiterate, and 75% of children run away from primary school because of poverty, hunger, lack of clothing, lack of parental care, hopelessness and other cultural factors.

Many destitute orphans and other vulnerable children become beggars or prostitutes - or take up house and farm work in exchange for food,  with the increased risk of exploitation and abuse.

Child trafficking is common as many of these children go begging on the border, while others are enticed by evil people to be ‘cared for’ outside Malawi. Early child marriages are common as the culture considers girls to be useless, without the need to be educated like boys.

A Faith-Based Organisation (FBO) registered under Dedza District Council, and a legally registered missionary church ministry in Malawi since 2008, working at grassroots level as an inter-denominational and non-partisan charity.

The Church serves with the Malawi Government in Social and Development Services through its Social Community Development Arm known as Grace Children Charity - working in the rural communities of Dedza district.

MISSION: To feed, clothe, educate and meet the needs of the children, youth and widows in our care and empower their households holistically.
